Today's Horoscope
All signs:
The stars want you to understand that people who are constantly worried about respect or can be easily offended probably don't have the greatest self esteem.
People with high self esteem really don't need the respect of every single person. They aren't looking for validation everywhere. What most people see as respect is really being subordinate. It is a control issue. Respect is a simple thing, and while you should demand respect in regards to people treating you fairly and as equals, that's not the same as demanding others do as you say or never question you or point out your foibles.
Confident people know who they are, and they don't care what other people think about everything they do. Ego demands we be noticed, and like children that never learn any better, we like attention any way we can get it. Some people are so desperate for attention that they co-op perceived offenses to other groups of people, just so they can basically say “look at me! I'm offended!”
The stars know that there are things to truly be offended by. They want you to understand that there is a difference between being over dramatic and actually offensive behavior. There are life and death situations that demand action. That's not being offended for the sake of being offended, that's trying to fix social problems or pointing out injustice or hatred.
Confident people don't really get that offended, even by personal attacks and humor that makes fun of traits possessed by them. They don't laugh at jibes made about other people, then get upset when the joke comes at their expense. People who are comfortable with themselves can laugh at themselves without it feeling like an attack. Many times, if you are easily upset by criticism, it is because it reveals an uncomfortable truth about you.
That said, if you find yourself being constantly offended and telling everyone about it in terms of how it affects you when it really doesn't, you should probably reexamine what things you're investing your time and energy on.
The stars want you to see that the things that other people say or do that get under your skin might be the things you should look at most. Not because those people are wrong, but in terms of why they bother you so much.
Sometimes the things we think are attacks are really just pointing out what we should be working on about ourselves.
