Today's Horoscope

All signs:
Today, you will resolve to stop repeating some bad behavior. Or you will resolve to start some good behavior. You might resolve to change some aspect of your life, what you eat, where you work, who you hang out with, your finances, your family life, a million choices you're not happy with.
You will make plans, you will get angry or euphoric in your head about the great things you will accomplish. You will lose weight, you will find love, you will get out more, you will make more time for yourself, you will tell that one asshole once and for all to go fuck themselves.
And then something will distract you or some other aspect of life will overwhelm you, and it will fade from your mind until the next time you notice it and resolve to change it once again.
This is just another part of the slow, mundane grind of life, the inaction and seemingly static existence that makes us feel bad about ourselves and like we're failing. We feel like we're not accomplishing anything, at least not enough.
We have been trained by technology and false information to expect everything now. We have been tricked into thinking that all life's problems can be fixed in a half hour like a sitcom, or in a couple hours like a movie. That is an illusion, and our brains don't understand the difference, so we want easy answers to difficult questions that take a lifetime to ask.
Just like we think the earth is flat because that's how we see the horizon, we have to remind ourselves that the earth is round. We do it without thinking. The millisecond between when our brain detects a flat line and when our brain self corrects itself goes unnoticed.
Other, more abstract perceptions take time and effort to see and bring into focus. The stars have told us many times, life is a marathon, not a sprint, but our brains want answers NOW! But just like a child learns that they can't have whatever they want whenever they want it, we have teach our adult minds the same thing.
You might see the fact that you resolve to change the same thing over and over again, week after week, year after year as defeat, but your just not seeing the curve of the earth. Lessons take a long time. Doctors don't finish medical school in a day. Violin virtuosos don't learn to play in an hour. Athletes don't train in minutes. All these things take years, lifetimes in some cases. And these things are not as complex and intricate as simply living.
So every time you resolve to do something and then don't, see it as one short and necessary step in a very, very, long walk. Every attempt is a hammer blow on tin, shaping it into a work of art, one tiny tap at a time.
It's just part of the process, and it means you are still moving forward, still striving for something, crawling out of the dark towards the light.
The stars know about all that. They have been on their own personal journey for billions of years, slowly and methodically gathering dust until one day they ignite into what you see today. Look at them in wonder, not just as a point of light in the sky, but as the culmination of eons of change and growth, steady resolve to become something beautiful, just like you.
