Today’s Horoscope

All signs:

Today you will catch yourself lying to yourself.  We do it all the time.  Don’t worry about it, we all do it just so we can get through another day.  So we can navigate another crisis.  So we don’t kill ourselves or someone else.  There are a million little things that are too hard to face outright.  We see them for what they are, then we tell ourselves a little fib so we don’t have to stare directly at it. It’s a tightrope walk every step, and the wire is swaying and we are struggling to stay on top.  

You can see all of it though.  You see where your destructive behavior is heading, but you tell yourself you have years to fix it and one more time isn’t going to do any irreversible harm.  You see how you might be out of a job this time next year, but things could turn around so why bother looking for a new job now?  You see how your relationship is irreparable, but you tell yourself it could all work out somehow.  All kinds of things in your life pushing you off the wire, but you wobble a bit, tell another lie and straighten back up again.

It’s just a part of life.

Of course, you have to be careful though.  A little half truth here and there to keep you going is one thing, but if you veer into territory where you have totally lost yourself in the lies and confusion you are in grave danger.  You have to know yourself, and if you lie to yourself here and there to keep your sanity it’s fine, as long as you know somewhere in your head that’s what you’re doing.  

Some of us go too far though.  We forget our limitations, we forget what we’re capable of, we forget who we are.  Then we lie to ourselves and everyone around us and it spirals out of control.  We make a huge mess of our lives and the lives of the people we care about. Then you’re off the wire and you better hope that there is a net.  Many times there is not.

Make no mistake about it, life is hard.  You don’t need the stars to tell you that.  In fact, you don’t usually need the stars to tell you what you already know, you can see it just fine.  But if you lose track sometimes of what’s true and what’s not, don’t panic.  Chances are you’re never so far gone that you can’t come back.  You would be surprised at what the people who love you can overlook and forgive and they can keep on loving you just the same, and if they can’t, maybe they didn’t really love you after all.  That is as true as anything you will ever know.

And if you do get lost, always remember: the stars are telling you the truth, and it is in your best interests to listen.
