Today you might be doing the heavy lifting for someone and not even realize it. That's not a good thing.
There are people out there that are damaged, or manipulative, or just plain evil, and they will be more than happy to mess your life up if you let them. They will berate or passive-aggressively tear you down, little by little because they are insecure or afraid or full of rage, and they want you to hate yourself so they can control you.
And you will help them. You will tell yourself that they are right. When they try to make you feel bad about who you are, they tap into your own fears and insecurities and then those feelings take over. Sometimes these people only need to whisper a few words in your ear to start your downward spiral. They are surgeons, and they have honed their weapon into a precision blade, to cut you quick and deep. Then you do all the work for them.
There are people that lie to you all the time. Absurd lies. Pathological liars will tell you the most ridiculous stories, and that's by design. They count on the fact that you are good, and you can't conceive that someone who loves you would make up something that outrageous. It's like they don't even try, and they're not.
They tell you ludicrous things because they resent you and are full of scorn. They hate you, and they are mocking you, and they can't believe how stupid you are that you talk yourself into giving them the benefit of the doubt again.
They hate themselves even more, and they hold you in disdain because you won't just call them out on it once and for all. We feel noble for putting up with it or deserving of their abuse, anything so we can keep these horrorshows in our lives. That's our damage.
And once again, while they carry on this tormented and convoluted existence, you are stuck doing all the heavy lifting. There are millions of people out there, all messed up, all carrying on a deranged plot line in their heads, and they are always looking for extras in their play.
The stars shine their light brightly, trying to expose these predators and bumblers so you can avoid them. Learn to recognize what they are showing you, and just keep walking when you come across one of these people weighed down by poison and anger, or you may find yourself playing the part of a pack mule for an abusive and unappreciative master.
