Just because you are considerate and thoughtful to someone, that's no guarantee that they will be the same way with you.
Just because you are kind and selfless, and attentive and caring, doesn't mean the people you treat that way will reciprocate.
Just because you are loyal and faithful and love them more than anything, there's no assurance that they will do the same for you.
People are complex, and they all have varying degrees of empathy, responsibility, and self awareness. Some people go through life in their own little selfish bubble, not really thinking of others that much. Fear, bad parenting, and varying degrees of sociopathic tendencies may have left them with different ideas of what being the other half of a friendship or relationship mean.
The point the stars are trying to make is that at some point in life you need to realize that treating someone special is not going to necessarily make them treat you special in return. People are gonna be people. You need to figure out just how much reciprocating you need to be happy and feel loved, and if you're not getting that, move on. Otherwise you will just spend years in quiet resentment, waiting for something that will never come. If you don't, it might change you into someone who closes themselves off too. Don't let that happen. It you're capable of loving and caring like that, don't let the rest of the world grind you down. Find others that are capable of it also, and live in that world instead.
