Today's Horoscope
The stars want to remind you that all of us are horrible at math. Not actual arithmetic, but the mathematics of life. We all have faults in our equations, and our estimations are always off. We think we can add it all up to see the future and what we will end up with, but we never do.
So many times we are let down by the things we thought would fulfill us and bring us so much happiness. We think that putting effort and love into our side of the equation should result in getting an equal amount in return. We overvalue people's sense of commitment, or their idea of reciprocation, and are left disappointed yet again.
We are so bad at guessing the future and the reactions to our efforts that we often give our super villains the attribute of being evil masterminds, who see five steps ahead of the heroes, and manipulate the outcome of every scenario. We also make those villains cold and emotionless, ruthless psychopaths who stop at nothing. People like them do exist in the real world, but that mindset is so foreign to most of us that it passes for a superpower.
That's where we get tripped up, time and time again. Math is cold and calculating, we are not. Our emotions and humanity infect the numbers, and offset the equations; who we are skews the math.
The stars don't expect you to ignore the letdowns and disappointments, the heartache and dissatisfaction that our faulty math deposits at our door everyday. They just hope you realize that it's simply a by-product of our hope and love and vision and desire for something better than cold, hard numbers that balance every time.
The thing that fucks up the math is the beauty you possess inside you, and often that gives you so much more than a tidy sum total on your balance sheet. When you focus on the things that don't match your idea of what should equal what, you sometimes miss out on the things that make our lives worth living.
