Today you will think some weird thought and berate yourself for it. You will think you are ridiculous, or stupid, or evil, or a million other unflattering adjectives that are probably way off the mark. Everyone does it, every moment of every day. Everyone. Even if you think some weird, horrible, mess of a thing, someone else has thought it before. Trust me. There are 7 billion people on this planet, and if only .01% of them thought of it too, that’s still nearly a million people thinking the same disgusting thing you are right now. You don’t act on the really evil thoughts, do you? Then who cares? Your brain just throws out weird shit now and then. Enjoy it rather than letting it make you question who you are.

Today one of your relatives will say or do something that once again makes you wonder if they are completely insane. It could be your parents, or your siblings, or some weird cousin you hardly ever see. You are probably used to thinking that way about strangers, but when it’s a family member, especially a parent, it really throws you off your game. You wonder if maybe you’re the weird one, and the rest of the world is sane. Don’t sweat it. Everyone has their own quirks, even mom and dad. As you get older, you become your own person and develop your own ideas and opinions, and some of the same things you saw everyday of your life growing up seem kind of crazy now. They also might have some mental health issues, and you never noticed it until now. If they seem like they are really having problems, stop living in denial and get them some help.
Most likely though it is just something harmless that they have lived with all their lives, and it’s gotten them this far, so just roll with it. Don’t take it personal, don’t let their fucked up reality harm your own fucked up reality. Say to yourself ‘that’s just (mom, dad, sis, brother, uncle Mortimer)’ and go about your day. If something they say makes you feel bad, tell them and demand they stop it. If you don’t feel up to that right now, at least call a friend and tell them about it and let them reassure you that you’re not horrible, even if your mom just said you were in a roundabout way! Plus, most people are fucking bonkers, and that includes your family. If it’s any consolation, they think you’re off your rocker too.
The stars created us, and they do not judge us. They just shine down on you and admire you, and if you think that they are judging, that’s on you, not them.
