Today’s Horoscope

Make no mistake about it, some of your best traits are often liabilities. If you are generous or kind or empathetic, you are a beacon to people who will prey on it and take advantage. If you are caring and sensitive, you are often mocked and a target of bullies. If you are understanding or well thought out, you will be attacked and ridiculed by people who don’t want to understand or think. If you are patient, people will see how far they can push you.
In many ways, the nicer you are, the more people will resent you. There is usually no great reward for being kind or considerate or loyal or giving.
Except there is.
You get to live with yourself, and know that you’re good and decent, and doing the best you can. Although it’s rare, there are enough people equipped with the tools and knowledge to understand how special you are, and they will love you fiercely for it. They realize that someone who goes the extra mile and takes the time to understand who they are is invaluable, and they will be there for you as well.
So yes, part of the price for being open and honest and loving is to get punished for it. You will be used and manipulated and attacked at times. The good news is, you find out who is worth your time and who isn’t, and you learn to fine hone your skills to help and care in the places where it will do the most good. It is not your job to placate predators and bullies, and people who just want to use and hurt others. It is your job to be happy, and to surround yourself with people who are on your side and want the best for you, just like you are for them.
If you find yourself still feeling bad for the people who take advantage of you, who not only hate the world, but hate themselves even more, take solace in the fact that most of the things you do for them only enables them and gives them a chance to twist it into something bad that fits their horrible worldview. The only way that they will learn that their bad behavior is hurting only them is to let their bad behavior hurt only them.
You are a light, so live in the light, where you belong.
