Sometimes, the only thing someone needs is a little encouragement or praise. It's pretty much the easiest thing you can do to make a positive impact on someone's life. For some reason, though, people can be very stingy with their compliments, even to the people they love most.
That might be because they never get any themselves, but if they gave some out, they would get some back. It might he because they are bitter, and feel that being too nice to others might make people weak, or not want to work harder, but that is manipulative and twisted.
Maybe it is just because they are mad at the world, and feel that they have been cheated or ignored or unappreciated, so why should anyone else get to be loved and be happy, and that is very sad indeed. Think about how much better they, and the world, would be if only someone had told them that they were doing well and that someone was proud of them. Think of the difference it would have made in their lives, if only they had some person who took a moment to tell them that.
We can't be sure who is getting positive reinforcement in their lives, who has someone telling them “good job”, or “keep at it”, or just that someone is glad they exist.
The stars think you should probably be that person, just in case. How much will it really cost you?
